Basic Regatta Notes
This was a combined Niagara Frontier and Lake Erie District Championship, and that made it twice the fun! The forecasted high winds and big waves prevented us from racing on Lake Ontario Saturday, so a course was set up on Irondequoit Bay. The shifty breeze and mega-puffs confounded the trepidatious sailors for two races before the sustained wind velocity increased, sending the fleet in. Abundant entertainment on shore included: Corn hole, tank racing, awesome music by Band Overboard, euchre, farkle, and catching up with friends and making new ones into the night in tent city. Thistlers made their way to the Lake for racing on Sunday, but only one race was completed in dying breeze before heading back to RCC. A brilliant thermal breeze on the Bay brought us back in. Trophies were presented to the top five finishing teams. Fun was had by all!
