My wife and I campaigned a J/24 for 15 years when kids arrived on the scene. The Thistle seemed like a nice move given we had the Willamette sailing club only 3 miles from our home and there was a strong fleet. I sourced a boat locally and had a brand new custom galvanized trailer built for this boat ($1,500!) and proceeded to pull it into dry storage for winter. That was something like 10-11 years ago. Sadly we never even sailed it once. We were wrong about our available time with the kids and the boat has sat there...
