NOTICE OF RACE
- The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Thistle Class Association Constitution, By Laws, Chief Measurer’s Rulings and Specifications, this Notice of Race and the sailing instructions.
- VHF Radio: The Race committee intends to communicate to competitors via VHF and voice
Eligibility:
This regatta is open to skippers of R&D Thistle Class boats. Skippers must be Active or Junior
members of The Thistle Class Association (TCA) and boats shall be registered with the TCA.
Schedule of Races:
Five Races are scheduled, however one race will constitute a regatta. No races will be started after 1200 on Sunday.
Schedule of Events:
Friday June 9th – Club grounds open for early arrival 1600
Saturday June 10th – Registration (At the Club House) 0900-1100
Skipper’s Meeting (At the Club House) 1130
Warning Signal – Race #1 1300
Additional races to follow first race of the day
Social 1730
Dinner 1830
Sunday June 11th – Warning Signal 0930
Additional races to follow first race of the day, no warning signal will be made after 1200
Awards Presentation ASAP
Fees:
Regatta Entry $45.00
Non-US Sailing Member + $5.00
Dinner – $20.00 each (Go Gyro Go! is back!)
Lunches – $10.00 per person for Saturday & Sunday
Sailing Instructions and Notice of Race:
The Sailing Instructions and Notice of Race will be available on the PYC website.
Course:
The courses will be Sailed on Lake Chickamauga. The Courses will be Windward/Leeward courses.
Scoring:
Scoring will be according to the Low Point scoring system of RRS Appendix A, except all races
will be scored. This changes RRS A.2. Five races are scheduled with one race constituting a
regatta.
Trophies:
Will be awarded to the top three skippers and crew.
Lodging:
Camping is welcome on the grounds of PYC and campers are invited to use the showers and
restroom facilities. There are a small number of 30 amp hook ups available.
Directions:
From I-24 South: Take I-24 South to I-75 North, and then follow directions from I-75 below.
From I-75 North or South: Exit I-75 to Highway 153 North. Follow Highway 153 North approximately 6.8 miles across Chickamauga Dam. Immediately at the north end of the dam, exit at Lake Resort Drive. Go fully around the traffic circle and turn onto Lake Resort Drive. Follow Lake Resort Drive approximately 1.5 miles to the intersection with Gann Store Road. (Look for small “PYC” signs) Turn right on Gann Store Road. Follow Gann Store Road, past Gold Point Marina, approximately 1.1 miles. At the top of a hill, where Gann Store Road turns left, go straight onto Privateer Road. At the end of the cul-de-sac on Privateer Road is the entrance gate to the Club.
