Cedar Point Yacht Club is excited to be hosting the 2017 Thistle Class Atlantic Coast Championship on July 8-9!

Join us for two days of competitive pre-nationals racing, and also a great Saturday night party with a fantastic local band, delicious dinner, and FREE beer.  Event T-Shirts are available.

The Flag Officers and the Members of Cedar Point Yacht Club extend a cordial invitation to join us for the
Thistle Class Atlantic Coast Championship.
1 RULES
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the
prescriptions of US Sailing (USS), the rules of the Thistle Class Association (TCA) and by the Sailing
Instructions.
1.2 Changes to the Racing Rules: 32, 62.1(a), 63.7, and Appendix 2.1 will be changed as follows:
Rule 32 – courses will not be shortened;
Rule 62.1(a) – limits grounds for granting redress on recall hails;
Rule 63.7 – Sailing Instructions prevail in case of conflict with the Notice of Race;
Appendix 2.1 – No score will be excluded.
These changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions may also change other
Racing Rules.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
This event is open to all boats and skippers eligible under the TCA Rules and this Notice of Race.

4 ADVANCE REGISTRATION
Boats may be registered in advance by completing the attached registration form and sending it in with the
appropriate fees to:

5 REGISTRATION
All boats shall register or finalize advance registration at the clubhouse on July 8, 2017.
6 FEES
The Entry Fee will be $120 per boat which includes three dinners. For Thistles sailing two up, the entry fee will
be $105 and will only include two dinners. Additional dinners may be purchased for $15. All fees are nonrefundable.
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at the Registration Table and at the Skipper’s Meeting.
8 COURSES
The courses will be defined in the Sailing Instructions.
9 SCORING
The Low-point Scoring System, Appendix A2 of the RRS, will apply. The number of races will be at the
discretion of the Race Committee. One completed race shall constitute a series. Each boat’s total score will be
the sum of her scores for all races (no throw outs). This changes RRS A2.1.
10 RADIO COMMUNICATION
Competitors may receive VHF radio transmissions from the Race Committee on a designated competitors’
channel concerning safety, notice of on course side (OCS) boats and general information to assist in the
management of the event.
11 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top five boats.
12 SAILOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES
By participating in racing, a sailor acknowledges that he or she is solely responsible for his or her own safety
and that if the crew and boat; that he or she represents that the boat and its equipment are in sound condition and
all required safety equipment is aboard, accessible for use and in operable condition; that the decision to race,
not to race, or to withdraw after starting is solely his or hers; and s/he hereby release the organizing authority,
its officers, trustees, and all members of the Race Committee, whether or not members of the organizing
authority from any and all liability or claims for personal injury for property damage or death resulting in
participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
13 DIRECTIONS TO THE CLUB
From North or South – Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) to exit 17 (Westport). At the end of the ramp, turn right
onto Route 136. Go about 1.5 miles on Route 136. Turn left on Duck Pond Road then the first left on Harbor
Road. Follow Harbor Road to the stop sign before the one-way bridge which is under construction. Turn right
on Canal Road and then take the first left onto Spriteview Avenue. Take the first right onto Cross Way and
follow to the Club.
14 LODGING
