The 57th Admiral Farragut regatta is in the books. The weather was gorgeous all weekend in Knoxville, TN. Saturday saw huge changes in wind speed and direction making sailing very difficult. Wind speeds from 6 to 19 we recorded and one gust that came through in the second race was likely a little higher, causing boats to scramble to get spinnakers down.
By the end of the day 3 boats capsized. With the breeze so up and down 3 man and 2 man boats both had their time to shine and time to struggle. Vlasta Kunc sailed very well after a couple years away and was in 2nd place Saturday night.
Saturday evening was a ton of fun with an enthusiastic lighting of a campfire with gas and the release of 50 Chinese lanterns into the sky.
Sunday was lighter than Saturday but still with big oscillations and also big holes. Scott Griffin sailed a perfect day with two bullets to get back to 4th in the regatta after a DNF Saturday. Bryan Anderson sailed very well all weekend to finish 3rd. Brad Russell edged out Vlasta Kunc for the regatta win in a tight battle. Dan Russell rounded out the top 5.
