1954 D&M Mahogany Thistle

Ready to race or cruise right now. You will get more comments on the beauty of this boat that you can imagine. I haven't named it, but the original name is Sami-Lu, After the builder Sam Weibel and his wife, Lucille. He built it in '54, and has been garage stored. In 2002 it was sanded down to bare wood on the hull, stained and sealed and put on 8 coats of varnish. It is beautiful. Still has the original wooden mast and boom and suit of sails. (wood mast slightly damaged) Has faired fiberglass center board and original lead tipped mahogany board. Stiff and light with flotation she will race or cruse well. I have bought a larger yacht and don’t have time to sail her. It is a lovely boat in very good shape.

#857 - built in 1954.
Has black aluminum mast and new black boom
wood is sound
all controls on 45s
all lines and controls are under wood so no skinned shins
All running and standing rigging in excellent shape. zhik hiking straps
original sails
2 sets of sails for club racing. One set used a bit. Two spinnakers
new set of Diebold sails used twice
travel top and bottom cover
full tent cover
trailer in good condition

1041 in SF Bay - $1,500 or best offer...

posted Jul 16, 2016, 3:28 PM by Paul Nelson

This boat has been in my family for over 50 years. My grandfather purchased it and raced this boat with his family. I inherited it from my grandfather and have kept up on the basic maintenance. I recently purchased another sailboat that is more manageable to sail and we need to pass this beautiful boat on to a new generation/family.

All sails included and a nice tip up rudder. The cap rail needs to be sanded and refinished but the interior woodwork was sanded down and re-varnished recently. I also put a new coat of nonskid deck paint in the cockpit and it's paperwork is all up to date till 2017.

Need to find this a new home quickly because my family needs to move on. Thanks for the interest.

1207 in NY - Free to good home!

posted Jul 7, 2016, 7:33 AM by Paul Nelson

1207 is Free to a good home. The centerboard trunk is out and the bottom is half striped.
There is a hole on the starboard side and the keelson needs some re-adhesion before the trunk is re-seated.
